MIDDLE SCHOOL

Think deeper. Create bolder. Become more.

At One School, the middle years are a bridge — not just between elementary and high school, but between who a scholar is and who they're becoming. We teach our scholars to be self-directed, curious, and grounded in who they are.

THE EXPERIENCE

An education that challenges curiosity.

Our middle school curriculum is dedicated to the continual pursuit of excellence — providing a challenging program that benefits all learners. Scholars work on meaningful, real-world projects alongside teachers who act as engaged facilitators. During this pivotal season, we emphasize identity in Christ while sharpening minds, building character, and developing the whole person.

Project-Based Learning

Scholars work on extended, real-world challenges — from a week up to a full semester — developing deep content knowledge alongside critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. Every project culminates in a public product or presentation for a real audience.

Character & Community

Scholars are inducted into Character Houses, where they build identity, belonging, and leadership through collaborative groups that foster creative energy and genuine connection.

Arts & Expression

Scholars choose their own arts pathway each quarter — selecting from culinary, performing, visual, and communicative arts — ensuring every scholar develops and expresses their creative voice.

HIGHLIGHTS

What scholars experience here.

Deeply Known

Every scholar is known by name, story, and strengths. Teachers invest in each scholar's unique journey as engaged facilitators, not lecturers.

Heart, Mind, and Spirit

Character, faith, and identity in Christ are woven into everyday learning — shaping scholars who are grounded, resilient, and kind.

Joyful Engagement

From collaborative group work to hands-on projects, scholars are active participants in their learning — not passive recipients of information.

Growth Celebrated

We celebrate milestones — academic, creative, and character-based — so scholars see how far they've come and own where they're going.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

A few of the things families ask most often. Don't see yours? Reach out — we'd love to talk.

  • Rather than passive instruction, our middle school is built around project-based learning where scholars tackle real-world problems over extended periods — from a week to a full semester. Teachers function as engaged facilitators, not lecturers, and scholars are expected to own their learning.

  • Character Houses are one of the defining experiences of middle school at One School. Scholars are inducted into houses that become their community — a place where they build identity, develop leadership, support one another, and celebrate collective growth throughout their time with us.

  • Arts are not an add-on — they're built into the fabric of middle school. Each quarter, scholars choose their arts experience from culinary, performing, visual, and communicative arts. This gives every scholar agency over how they develop and express their creativity.

  • During this transitional period, we emphasize and celebrate each scholar's identity in Christ. Faith isn't a separate class — it's woven into how we approach learning, relationships, and character. Scholars are shaped as whole people: academically, creatively, and spiritually.

  • The best first step is scheduling a tour so you can experience One School firsthand. Our admissions team will walk you through the program and guide your family through next steps tailored to your scholar.

  • Our middle school maintains a 1:16 scholar-to-teacher ratio, ensuring that each scholar receives meaningful attention and that teachers can truly know and invest in every student they work with.
