National School Counseling Week // February 3rd-7th
In honor of National School Counseling Week Feb 3-7,we have the privilege of shining the spotlight on 4 very important leaders and influencers here at One School of the Arts! Our team of counselors offer guidance in a variety of ways to our scholars, leading with great love, a depth of wisdom, and vast experience in their fields.
Counselors Mrs. Maria Pagan (Elem), Mrs. Cindy McDaniel (MSHS), Pastor Tim Waisanen (MSHS) & Mrs. Kim Reynolds (MSHS Academic Advisor) help to bridge the gap between how scholars are feeling at the moment to who they are becoming in the future. Collectively, the tremendous impact our counselors have is far reaching; success is measured in more than just academic scores and discovering a career path, but also by exhibiting social and emotional intelligence. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Character is Higher than Intellect.” Developing the skills to handle interpersonal relationships, having the capacity to know one self, and showing empathy for others is vital to the overall success of an OSOTA scholar. From making amends with friends to making big college decisions, no matter is too big or too small for our team of counselors.
And this impact is not limited to just our scholars. Our counselors extend beyond the call of duty and offer support to our staff as well as our parents, including their Book Club launch this month discussing UnSelfie, by Michele Borba Ed.D: “Why empathetic kids succeed in our all-about-me world.”
Thank you Cindy, Maria, Tim, and Kim for your on-going, selfless dedication to our families, bringing your insight, perspective, and expertise to our every day.
