MILESTONE MOMENTS: tHE OPENING OF ROAR & CO. OUTFITTERS
This year, our school has wholeheartedly embraced the theme of Dream Doers.
Years ago, a few high school scholars approached Mrs. Kristen Sayavan, our Head of School, with a bold idea. They wanted to have our school uniforms reflect our school’s personality. They imagined stylish designs and colors that would stand out from standard uniforms and showcase our creativity. “If we are a school of the arts” they asked “how come our uniforms look like every other private school in the United States? Mrs. Sayavan saw their point and gave them the greenlight and encouragement to continue dreaming.
Though COVID put these dreams on hold, the idea was revived during our 10th anniversary rebranding. Mr Blake Vasek put pen to paper and created our new powered by OS logo. Scholars, staff, and families audibly gasped with joy when they saw it as it resonated with each group in a special way.
With our new logo in hand, we began pursuing the right vendor to partner with for new uniforms and numerous retailers turned down our unique vision, but we didn’t let that stop us. Instead, we decided to bring everything in house, tapping into the passion and entrepreneurial spirit of our high school scholars. They became the driving force, handling everything from marketing and design to in-house order fulfillment and inventory management, learning first hand what it means to be Dream Doers.
With the support of Mr. Hector Febres and his family helping to bring guidance and support to see this vision become a reality, our scholars transformed classrooms and temporary spaces over summer into a store servicing all of our families. Now we celebrate the milestone of having a dedicated retail space.
A meaningful new name emerged for our store: Roar & Co.
Named in honor of our mascot, Judah the Lion–symbolic of strength, courage, and leadership. The name also reflects the spirit of the tribe of Judah from the Bible. This is a tribe with a rich heritage of royal bloodlines of David, Solomon and Jesus. Roar & Co embodies this legacy and inspires our scholars to wear their uniforms with a sense of pride and belonging.
We are grateful for the hard work and determination of our scholars as our scholars can now wear uniforms they’re genuinely proud of–designs that embody our school’s creativity, heart and spirit.
