Whatever Things Are Lovely, Think on These!

A positive mindset is everything. A positive outlook is just the beginning. If we dare greatly, (which is the motto of one of today’s *great thinkers), and we walk into the school year with the goodness of life at the forefront, dear Friends, dear Family, what a wonderful world that will surely meet us!

Good ‘ol Louis Armstrong could not have painted a more beautiful theme song for the direction and focus for us this year.  This is a wonderful world, and at OSOTA every day we are creating something new because we want our scholars to believe and pursue their destiny wholeheartedly.

But we as leaders have to see it in order to impart it, and we have to be mindful about showing how beautiful this life is even when it challenges us.

Teaching is hard work, and parents, you have a pretty  tough job too. While we’re doing this good work, let’s chime in to celebrate what is happening in our lives, and in the lives of those around us—especially our scholars and for our scholars.

Starting now through October, we want to hear snippets of what’s going great for your families since the start of the school year—not for our sake, but for the sake of our community.

Our October Hashtags are simple ways to do this.:

[ #bettertogether #shareyourstory #osotalife]

Why? You matter. Your scholars matter. Our teachers and staff matter.

One voice can change the world.

So....

Maybe it’s a funny statement your scholar said on the way home or maybe it’s an exciting change you have seen in behavior. Perhaps, your scholar taught you something you didn't know or how to use technology a whole lot better...Whether your story is fresh or seasoned, let's share it!

We invite you to send your story to intheknow@oneschool.net.

If you want to go public, submit through our Facebook group: OSOTA | PTF

Note: These stories will remain anonymous, unless you desire otherwise, and will be shared in parts so that our community can grow into a lovely place just like our transforming campus!

In fact, two of our amazing teachers, Mrs. Rice and Ms. G have started the year off in a fabulous way by creating Instagram accounts filled with positive moments they experience throughout the day. For the old school folks, it’s like a digital photo album you can’t run away from on a wonky day. Great things are happening at #osota.

We're All On Board

As a school, we are adopting, and recommitting ourselves, in and out of the classroom, to positive framing.

Positive framing encourages us to:

1.    Live in the Now
2.    Assume the Best
3.    Allow Plausible Anonymity
4.    Build Momentum/Narrate the Positive
5.    Challenge
6.    Talk Aspiration

...Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
— Philippians 4:8 -9 // Message Bible

So let’s think about those wonderful things that have been happening directly or indirectly since you have been adopted into the OSOTA pride.

Finally, Here’s a lovely parting serenade for you to enjoy.

Here's Louis Armstrong's classic version too!
